| I am a Cancer Survivor The last year and a half has truly been a growing and humbling experience for me. Besides going through the worry and thoughts of dieing due to cancer I had quite a few other eye opening experiences. For the first time in my life I was faced with having to ask for help. This in itself was humiliating. I had a great childhood and can not remember ever going without anything I truly needed and in most part wanted. Life did have ups and downs after leaving my parents home but for the most part still, I had everything I truly needed. Then on January 20th 2009 the world as I knew it came crashing down around me. This was the day I was diagnosed with cancer. How ironic it was also inauguration day for Obama. Once I pulled my head together while going through radiation and chemo I found a few people who could help. Rather than being able to rest and try to help the treatments work I had to work on feeding my family, keeping the lights on and saving our home.
